Delia Pamela Fuentes Korban's Biography

Delia Pamela Fuentes Korban teaches Italian and  Spanish Languages as well as Latin American literature at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, FL. She specializes in memory studies and in contemporary Argentine literature, history, and popular music.

Fuentes Korban completed a BA in Italian Studies, a BFA in Studio Art, and a MA in Comparative Literatures with a focus on Latin-American literature and Film Studies from Florida Atlantic University. She earned a PhD. in Romance Studies -Spanish- from the University of Miami.  She was awarded the UGrow (Graduate Opportunities at Work) Fellowship, that enabled her to work as an Institutional Research Fellow at the University of Miami Libraries’ Special Collections Department and to author detailed bibliographical records for each Eloísa cartonera book within the collection. Furthermore, she received the Tinker Field Research Grant to conduct research in Buenos Aires, Argentina, regarding audience reception to radio production; and the Modern Languages Summer Research Award, to catalogue and author a finding aid for the Irma G. Labastille Latin-American Music Collection at UM Libraries' Special Collection. 

 

Fuentes Korban authored, “La (re)mediatización de la memoria histórica argentina y el fotoperiodismo en torno a la crisis 2001 – 2002,” which was published in alter/nativas: Revista de Estudios Culturales Latinoamericanos. Moreover, she is the awardee and curator of an Andrew W. Mellon CREATE Grant for The Argentine Diaspora Oral History Project, which will be housed under the UM Libraries’ Oral Histories Collection and made available through its website (argentinediaspora.com). This project records the migration histories of Argentine and Argentine Americans who have made South Florida, and the US, their home.
 

One of her favorite places to conduct research, specially during the Argentine winter, is the Biblioteca Nacional Mariano Moreno in Buenos Aires.
